RULES AND REGULATIONS: TRANS/HITOS 2020 CERAMIC AND ARCHITECTURE DESIGN COMPETITION
- Entrants
Any person, entity or institution may enter either individually or as a team, providing they comply with the rules and regulations set out in this call for entries either of their own volition or at the request of the entity promoting the prize.
Entries will be accepted from professional architects, interior designers, technical architects, landscape designers and decorators of any nationality.
- Terms and conditions for entering
Entrants must submit a design for an exhibition area at Trans/hitos 2020 in which ceramic products will be a major feature. The space must:
- Be an unpublished design
- Be original and visually striking
- Be technically viable
- Make use of ceramic floor and/or wall tiles made by Spanish manufacturers and that fall into in the category of products represented by the Spanish Association of Ceramic Floor and Wall Tile Manufacturers, ASCER
- Be of the minimum dimensions of 4×4 metres floor area and 3m high
- Cost no more than 19,000€ (nineteen thousand euros), IVA not included, to cover materials, construction, build-up and dismantling.
A technical committee nominated by CEVISAMA will check that designs comply with the requirements set out in these terms and conditions.
Entrants will be deemed to have fully and unconditionally accepted all the term and conditions.
- Submission of designs. Place and timetable
Designs may be sent by post or courier to:
FERIA VALENCIA – DELIVER TO DISPATCH DEPARTMENT (DEPARTAMENTO DE ENVÍOS) – AVENIDA DE LAS FERIAS, S/N – 46035 BENIMAMET (VALENCIA) between 15th and 31st July 2019, and should be marked “Att : María Fontes”.
Deliveries may be made in person between 09.00 and 13.00 on 29th July only, and should be delivered to the dispatch department (departamento de envíos) at Feria Valencia.
- Documentation to be submitted
Designs must be submitted in one single, sealed package that must be clearly labelled CONCURSO TRANS/HITOS
2020 DE CERÁMICA Y ARQUITECTURA. So as to preserve anonymity, the ONLY identification to appear on the outside of the package will be the CODE and SLOGAN chosen by the contestant. The package must contain two envelopes, both sealed and numbered. Both envelopes must have the SLOGAN (20 words maximum) and CODE (4 digits) chosen by the contestant written on the outside:

Envelope no1 must contain a brief printed CV of the architect/interior designer or practice that should also include full contact details: postal address, telephone number and e-mail address.

CONCURSO TRANS/HITOS 2020 DE CERÁMICA Y ARQUITECTURA SLOGAN and CODE
Contents:
Envelope no 2 must contain a digital storage device (CD, DVD or USB memory stick), labelled with the chosen SLOGAN and CODE. Each of the files stored on the digital device must show the SLOGAN and CODE chosen by the team. No details of any kind that might enable the author or authors of the designs to be identified may be included in the files in any way.
The digital storage device will contain the following files:
- Brief text describing the project (maximum 1500 words) including detail of the ceramic product/s used and the manufacturer’s or manufacturers’ brand/s.
• The budget. This should include a breakdown of the costs of the materials, the ceramic, any construction undertaken in the workshop, transport and build-up and dismantling in lobby area 2 at Feria Valencia (the Trans/hitos space). This budget must not exceed 19,000€, excluding IVA. - A graphic record. A0 size PDF document that should include:
-3D images showing the finished design from different angles. The images must be of sufficient quality for them to be able to be seen properly. It is essential that at least one image be included that shows clearly how the ceramic coverings have been used in the project.
-Plans: overall floor plan, elevations, sections, structure and construction details.
CEVISAMA will confirm receipt of the material by 7th September. If any of the materials specified in the rules and regulations (plans/drawings, record etc.) is missing, the entry will be rejected. Please contact the Communications department at CEVISAMA should you have any queries.

- Prizes
One single prize, of 3.000€, will be awarded to the author or authors of the winning design. Any tax to which this prize may be subject under current taxation law will be deducted.
The jury reserves the right to nominate a maximum of two runners-up as a means of highlighting designs that, whilst they have not won the prize do nonetheless stand out from the rest of the entries. Runners-up will not be awarded any cash.
The winning entry will be built and installed in lobby area 2 at Feria Valencia (the Trans/hitos space) for the duration of the international CEVISAMA 2020 trade fair, which takes place in Valencia from 3rd to 7th February 2020.
The winning design and, where applicable, any runner/s-up, will be published in such printed and online media as CEVISAMA may deem appropriate. They may also be used in any other promotional initiative organised by CEVISAMA or ASCER.
The winner will be chosen by 31st October 2019.
- Jury.
The jury, which will act in line with the rules and regulations, will comprise:

The jury will be tasked with the following:
- Selecting the winning entry and making a written record of the decision-making process that should show how the jury came to its decision, with every jury member having the opportunity to record individually why they voted as they did.
- The jury will act collectively and will put forward a winner by majority vote. Should a jury member also be the author of a design that has been submitted then he or she may cast votes for all designs except his/her own.
- A winner must be declared and joint winners will not be permitted.
- The jury’s decision will be final.

- Execution of the winning design
CEVISAMA will build, install and dismantle the winning design in collaboration with the designer, with the aim of translating the original ideal into reality as faithfully as possible. Should it be necessary to make alterations or changes to the design for technical or logistical reasons, any such decisions will be made jointly by CEVISAMA and the designer. Should there be any differences of opinion in this regard then CEVISAMA’s opinion will prevail.
- Co-operation
By entering this competition all participants agree to co-operate with the organisers of CEVISAMA and accede to requests from the press and/or other communications media wishing to interview the designer or any of the design team or visit and photograph their designs. No fees for reproducing any of the documentation submitted in relation to the competition will be payable and said documentation may be used for relevant publicity purposes via publication, exhibition and in the media. Given the non-commercial nature of the Trans/hitos show, any form of publicity given to the show or to the winning design will exclude any mention of the name of the manufacturer of any of the ceramic material used.
- Data protection
Entrants are informed that any personal details collected will be incorporated into databases belonging to CEVISAMA, whose address is Avda. de las Ferias s/n, 46035 Valencia, and will be processed for the purposes of appropriately managing communications regarding events and publications relating to the CEVISAMA that are circulated to third parties who like yourself are in contact with CEVISAMA.
The data collected are data that it is compulsory to provide in order for your entry to be processed.
